i joined the d&d club at my school...i have NO d&d knowledge..my friend is the dungeon master and they said it's fine if i join with no knowledge but like...idk..PLEASE TELL ME STUFF..

I've been playing for more than 40 years, currently DM two groups and play in a third.
There are so many different ways to play, that there's no particular thing I could say that might be useful except this:
HAVE FUN!
A few things:
Old and experienced players LOVE new players. No one will be expecting you to know a bunch of rules and so they are usually very kind and patient with newbies.
Let yourself go. Get immersed in the roleplaying during your gaming session. Remember that you are not the star, but you and the rest of the group are collectively the stars, and are collectively telling a story that might have a 'plot' or might just 'meander' in an intentionally directionless sort of way.
