I was born in '89 and had my most formative years during this time. I'm nostalgic for the late 90s and early 00s, but I'm not super intentionally trying to live like that, mostly because it's not fiscally possible, but I also can't find that much teal satin and chocolate brown microsuede (ba-dum-tss).
I do, however, own an excessive amount of VHS for the modern day --with plans for even more-- as well as DVDs. My partner has a rather large CD catalog, so I rip his to my computer. I also like to put on some of these videos that cover a lot of mundane everyday life.
Some of the things you can do to live like the 2000s have already been discussed, and yeah, a lot of it comes down to keeping your internet usage tied to a large device, as well as getting off the internet in general and spending more time doing.... anything else. Video games, books, wandering around window shopping with friends, or just being outside. (And also excessive boredom drinking, but let's not add that to the checklist, shall we?)
One of the other things that makes my life feel like the 00s is cruise the small web. Neocities, Nekoweb, etc. There's a bunch of fun and unique content out there, just waiting to be bookmarked. Here is a curated list of retro/old websites that's being put together right here on FR! My favorite so far is Ytoo because it's a nice, centralized directory of a wide variety of sites.
