how many languages do you guys know or want to learn?

for me:

  • english (first language)
  • italian (not fluent at all but i understand some words and terms as i studied it before)
  • german (same as italian, except i never took a class in school for it)
  • spanish (i know some basic words but that's about it)
  • russian (i don't really know anything since the alphabet is completely different but it seems like such a fascinating language)
  • swedish (again, don't know much other than basic stuff but it would be a cool language to learn, i do like a lot of stuff from sweden)
  • japanese (maybe eventually it would be fun to learn, but i don't know if i'd be able to do it)

oh fun question

i'm fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and i speak basic Spanish [actually, i can only read things, i suck at spelling or even writing something]. i also speak English but that's just to an intermediate level i guess.

i would love to learn slavic languages such as Russian or Polish!

@ian.ian oh polish is an interesting language too

About the languages I know

- Spanish (Native language)

- English

- Arabic (I've learned it but I forgot most of it)

- Italian (Same thing)

- German (On a very basic level)

- Portuguese (Probably the one I've put most time and efforts but I don't understand too much of it)

Languages I want to learn

- Latin (I consider it a pretty good choice for an universal eurocentric language and it's the most used in magic)

- Hebrew (I want to learn it mainly to understand magical operations better)

- Japanese (For the lols)

- Chinese (Maybe? Idk)

@Goltar latin is a very interesting one, one i'd want to learn.

In terms of languages I pretty much got a young ukrainian starter pack, which is Ukrainian, russian, and English. I thought of learning languages like Spanish because of it's popularity as well as French because it's pretty important in politics and a lot of European languages can be made a lot easier to learn once you understand french.

I also want to learn Romanian because the city I'm from has deep ties to romania and resides at it's border, the influence which bleeds itself into some of my relatives speaking it, for example. I'm also an immigrant, and I don't want to get enlisted so what I often do is go to Romania and my family and friends who are still in Ukraine visit me by crossing the border. So, ofc, if I stay at Romania often, it's kinda necessary for me to understand Romanian at least in SOME capacity

Anyone can wear the mask. You could wear the mask.

@fryedom you're from ukraine? the war there seems to be dragging on, i hope it ends soon. but that's cool you have that background.

are russian and ukrainian all that different? i don't really know anything about the ukrainian language

German and Japanese , and English

eheh , obviously English  . (´• ω •`)

I know all of these pretty good , hum

@mrsurrealist

@stevee

Absolutely Amazing

So my native language is Romanian and my 2nd is English. I also known some German from school, although I'm better at reading/pronouncing rather than speaking since I haven't taken a class in years. I picked up on some French and Italian (you can automatically learn Italian sooo easily as a Romanian) and I'd love to learn Slovenian bc my fav band is from there. Currently I'm also taking Latin in college, but I'm meh about it.

@diana romanian and italian both branched off of latin if i'm not mistaken. also, which band? i do listen to this one band from slovenia from time to time

@stevee yes, and the similarity is striking. For example it's buona sera in Italian and bună seara in Romanian lol. Also I'm talking about Joker Out, the ones who have been to Eurovision.

@diana that's very cool, maybe i should consider romanian sometime

english first lang

swahili and french were spoken at home, but only with one parent </3 i forgot MOST words for full convos in swahili, but i remember a lot of phrases! french is honestly my second best language

spanish was taught at school and at home, i don't remember proper grammar, but i could decipher some sentences:D i also learned it WHILE learning french so i end up mixing up the words 😭

i started japanese, but school was trying to take me OUT, so i didn't have the time

remember what the dormouse said... feed your head! ^_^

@AgejoAngel i don't think i ever heard anyone speak swahili before, that's cool

@stevee yessss! I only had one other friend who spoke it growing up:hyper:

remember what the dormouse said... feed your head! ^_^

Finnish as native language, English as second but I'm basically better at English than Finnish

On top of those I've studied German for six years, Swedish for seven years, Spanish for three years and Portuguese for six months in various schools, but didn't really learn any German after starting Swedish and have never really known Swedish

Also have picked up some Norwegian, Estonian, Karelian and Italian, more-or-less understand written French and know a couple of phrases in both Chinese and Japanese

And mainly I'd like to continue Portuguese, the evening university I studied it via only announced the second course a few hours after I'd already been accepted into another programme taking place at the exact same time as the Portuguese lessons

@brightlightislonggone can you speak spanish and portugese?

I am fluent in:

  • Uyghur

I partly know:

  • Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Kazach and Kyrgyz

"Dünya sevgisi bütün hataların başıdır."
