Is anyone else here learning a foreign language?
French is my native one and I speak English and Spanish, now I'm learning Portuguese, German and Dutch
I genuinely love these languages and learning about the countries that speak them
I'm a native Italian speaker and almost a native level in English (thanks to relatives in the US), and learned different languages like spanish and german, and a bit of japanese, but due to procrastination I didn't study anything at all, languages included
@mariasamaaaaaa That's awesome!! It looks like we got 4 languages in common :') I can speak a bit of Italian but I don't thing I'm very great, I haven't spoken it in a long time :(
Native arabic speaker, Learned english and now learning Japanese! although I’m slacking a bit due to uni making me so busy, i still try to study every now and then.

@ziv Japanese has to be difficult no? :O I mean does it have similarities with Arabic? I know they're aren't from the same language family, I'm dabbling in Hindi and it despite being Indo-European, it's so different that's it definitely a challenge :')
@garlek10 Japanese, Arabic, And English all have different grammar, vocabulary, writing systems, and grammar lol XD
I’m sometimes jealous of sane people who are learning romantic languages like french and english and spanish side by side. Chat, Cat, and Gato are kinda similar. قطة, cat, and ねこ are nothing alike!
the reason I started was because I liked anime, but now I still study Japanese even though I don’t watch anime anymore.

@ziv That's true haha I didn't think of this! Especially Japanese has 3 scripts, that must be an experience 😭
This is a clear advantage yes! Lots of shared words due to proximity, influence, History, makes it easier I'll admit
At the same time I get tired of learning the same word in different shades too :')
i'm a native english speaker! ik it's not a spoken language, but i'm also learning ASL (american sign language) and am trying my hardest to get better with french and russian!

I dunno if this really counts, but I can speak some bits of toki pona!
I don't really use it too much, but I like it alot :] (and theoretically, you can teach it to animals!)

I am currently learning Spanish and Greek but I really wanna learn Polish. I also speak a creole at home (TSI). I wish I could learn all the languages 😔

I am a native Spanish speaker and almost native level English. I speak enough Italian and French to get myself in trouble. I can read Portuguese well enough to have an idea.
I used to understand Farsi. I used to spend a lot of time at a friend's house as a teen. Her family is Persian and her mom spoke a smattering of English. I so much time there th as t her mom would speak in Farsi and I would answer in English.

Yess im brazilian so i speak Portuguese, i have advanced english and im starting to learn italian~ Italian is probably the most beautiful language in my opinion 🙏 i also wanted to learn russian sometime
Im from Norway so I only speak Norwegian and English. Im learning German at school tho so I can say simple stuff!!
I wish I could learn Vietnamese to, but there isn't any place where I can that right know. Ive tried to go on Sunday school, but they would only speak Vietnamese there so didn't learn shit.
i natively speak and am only fluent in british english, and ive been studying latin for 6 years and classical greek for 3!! im also trying to learn welsh as some of my family speak it but that's been on the backburner while ive been studying....
id love to learn spanish at some point in the future!! would really open doors to lots of places
I'm a native English speaker, but I've been learning German for about 10 years now. I'm horribly out of practice because I have no reason to practice it ever though. I'm also learning Gaeilge (Irish), Spanish (LatAM variety), toki pona, and I recently picked up Mandarin!

Native English speaker but I'm learning Dutch atm. It's a beautiful language and I'm tired of only knowing one language. I'd like to learn German next since it's so similar to both English and Dutch but we'll see
