Do you support the trend of cross-media adaptation in works of art (Examples: novels into animation; animation into live-action; books into television series; films into musicals; etc.)

why? or why not?

sometimes its SO GOOD but sometimes its awful.. Like movie to musical is AWFUL sometimes.. but besides that i think book to movie might be my fav nd almost always good :p:

it depends on how they adapt it

I like when they get real weird with it. Short story into experimental song. Song into Novella. Here's the song from that particular bit:

There are tons of examples of graphic novels being successfully made into movies and television. So many anime productions are so true to their manga source material that you can pick them up and read where the show left off. I think it's tougher with books though. Books rarely have a visual language that's cohesive enough that filmmakers can draw upon it without disappointing readers. Also, books have the ability to tell the audience about things that are happening behind the scenes, whereas good screenwriting requires showing the story through action rather than using exposition.
