Build my β€œanalog environment”

Small changes matter more than huge detoxes.


Music

  • πŸ’— MP3 player or iPod-style device
  • πŸ’— CD player
  • πŸ’— Vinyl if you enjoy collecting

Why????
-> No notifications, no endless recommendations, no doomscrolling.


Writing&thinking

  • πŸ’— Pocket notebook (my fav)
  • πŸ’— Fountain pen or pencil
  • πŸ’— Physical calendar or planner
  • πŸ’— Sticky notes on walls

-> Writing by hand slows your thoughts in a good way.


Reading

  • πŸ’— Physical books
  • πŸ’— Magazines
  • πŸ’— Comics / manga’s
  • πŸ’— Library card
  • πŸ’— (Kindle if you prefer !) always better than reading on a phone.

Reading on paper/kindle helps attention span recover.


Photography

  • πŸ’— Disposable camera
  • πŸ’— Digital compact camera
  • πŸ’— Film camera

You stop taking 500 photos and start noticing moments !!


Time&focus

  • πŸ’— Alarm clock (instead of phone)
  • πŸ’— Wristwatch
  • πŸ’— Kitchen timer / Pomodoro timerΒ 

This reduces automatic phone checking.


-Β For my part, it works really well, and my screen time has dropped by perhaps 70%. (from 9hours pls ???? to 2-3hours)

thank u soo much im always so bored and just go on my phone, im like glued to it, this will so help me get lesser screen time xx

But I really hope it does; it’s true that with our phones these days, it’s hard to get bored,

but once you get into the habit, I swear you’ll notice a huge difference and feel better. πŸ’•

Activities

  • πŸ’— Arrowwords
  • πŸ’— Crossword puzzles
  • πŸ’— Sports (any kind)
  • πŸ’— Walking
  • πŸ’— Coloring
  • πŸ’— Painting
  • πŸ’— Puzzles
  • πŸ’— Going out with friends or alone (alone its ok and sometimes BETTER :) )

Also, set screen time limits on your appsβ€”stay mentally strong and don't click "Ignore"β€”but I promise you, it's worth it.
