i keep seeing a lot of 'the thing with spacehey' and i'm really curious about what happened?(i have yet to actually google it, but i figured just asking would be more direct and personable lol)
i've been on the waiting list for it, but after i found this fun little place i stopped caring about getting on over there, now there's the whole 'the thing about spacehey' and iiiii just like knowing things
just wondering what brand of bullet it was that i dodged
i've been using spacehey for a loonggg time. all of this is just based on what ive seen and heard from other spacehey users, some spacehey blogs and some outsiders looking in. there is a chance i could be wrong about most or all of this.
it started with the gore spammers that would make their profile layouts irl gore and put them on the layouts tab and clickbait blogs that also have gore. there wasnt much done about it afaik besides locking down layouts so no one could upload new ones. the layouts are still locked down to this day
i think the real downfall happened when spacehey got region blocked for the uk and some us states. and then the invite only thing started when the gore problem started coming back(at least based on the blogs i saw around the time the invite only thing was implemented). a lot of people also suddenly got their pfps taken away which killed off most users. myself included loollll
also there's generally less upkeep and communication from an. he doesnt communicate with his community and much less his mods. he apparently fired most of his mod team too and from what ive seen there's only 2 left</3
ive also seen drama between some popular users but im personally not super into that and idk what happened. it all happened while i was off the site. but apparently that also killed off some users
hopefully the spacehey comes back better than ever, it was a really fun site and had a large userbase while it lasted but i doubt it will
@Lacey Lollipop 🍭the gore thing is real disturbing and damn that sounds like a whole lot of bad management etc. hope it gets itself together eventually but yeah the bans seem like a death sentence lol.
the drama with users is sooo unnecessary to me, like i get moments and slip ups but like to draw a whole thing out sounds genuinely exhausting lol
i'm on there like every day but i've had my account for over a year and i didn't know about all these other problems besides the stupid pfp thing until recently. i just discovered about the invitation only thing and being reported and such, but honestly i might completely switch over to here if things start to get even worse :/
i've really enjoyed being on spacehey and the few friends i've made from there, but it seems to be dying down after all of this garbage. oh and tbh i've only had a region problem like once or twice; apparently in IL i'm not blocked from the site but when i went to FL for a vacation, i couldn't access it at all.
