About me:
"Fritz! Fritz, get up for God's sake! Get up! They've killed Fritz! They've killed Fritz! Those lousy stinking yellow fairies! Those horrible atrocity-filled vermin! Those despicable animal warmongers! They've killed Fritz!"
My name is Silver, Aquarian born of the 8th house. An esoteric mage, rune-worker, lover of strange and dark music, and protector of the natural world. I also brew a great mead. I’m always glad to meet fellow pagans and practitioners of shamanic, animistic, and folk magical traditions, though I keep a strong distance from left-hand-path practices. I am also looking for people with similarly unusual musical tastes, and anyone who enjoys disappearing down philosophical rabbit holes. I actively seek out people with different worldviews from mine, as I find discussion and debate to be a fruitful endeavor.I’m currently a butcher by trade, though I’ll soon be entering an electrician’s apprenticeship.Much of my life revolves around the natural world. I consider myself a naturalist, mystic, and lifelong scholar, with the general ambition of becoming something of a renaissance man. My home is among the forests, hills, and mountains of Appalachia, and one of my long-term goals is simply to document the wildlife, landscapes, seasons, and weather I encounter there.I’m an amateur photographer. My main camera is a Nikon D300 with a Quantaray 70–300 and Nikkor 35–80. I also shoot with a Canon PowerShot G2 and Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50.I have a deep love for early-2000s technology and the culture surrounding it: old devices, the old web, retro gaming, vintage computers, and keeping tech alive long after it should have died. I try to rely entirely on Linux/Unix and FOSS Software.

I’m also an amateur meteorologist and radio operator, involved with both HAM radio and NWS SKYWARN. Weather, storms, radio, wildlife, and the changing seasons are all things that give me energy and the will to rise.Lately I’ve also been returning to some of the hobbies I loved when I was younger: tennis, cello, cycling, hiking, and birdwatching. These days I’m mostly interested in rediscovering the things that genuinely brought me joy growing up and building my life around them again. Those hobbies form the core of who I am; the rest of my assorted interests live over on my Interests page.
I am a Germanic pagan. I actively practice ritual magic and rune meditation. The chief deities of my family are Wotan ᛟ, Tiw ᛏ, and Ing ᛝ. I am Saxon and Celtic by blood, and I call my particular expression of paganism folkish revivalism.
My philosophy is one of pre-axial folkish futurism: drawing from the older world without attempting to retreat into it. Deep ecology, large-scale rewilding, urban development, and anti-capitalism all form part of that vision.
My politics are rooted in faith, socialism, and the environment.
My allegiance belongs to no government. It belongs only to nature and my people.
Midgard stands poised for a new age, a pre-axial dawn, where the Gods, Ancestor Spirits, and Land Wights once more stride the earth in living presence. An age where we live as tribes again, and where the City-State once more becomes home.Old becomes new. The cycle continues. Our ancestors are still alive within us; they speak to us.Hearken to their rede. Listen to their songs.
Hearing I ask | from the holy races,From Heimdall's sons, | both high and low;Thou wilt, Valfather, | that well I relateOld tales I remember | of men long ago.
I remember yet | the giants of yore,Who gave me bread | in the days gone by;Nine worlds I knew, | the nine in the treeWith mighty roots | beneath the mold.
Of old was the age | when Ymir lived;Sea nor cool waves | nor sand there were;Earth had not been, | nor heaven above,But a yawning gap, | and grass nowhere.
Then Bur's sons lifted | the level land,Mithgarth the mighty | there they made; The sun from the south | warmed the stones of earth,And green was the ground | with growing leeks.
The sun, the sister | of the moon, from the southHer right hand cast | over heaven's rim;No knowledge she had | where her home should be,The moon knew not | what might was his,The stars knew not | where their stations were.
