Very cool, and good salix identity! Did that oak Savannah do controlled burns at all? There’s a couple black oak savannahs near where I live, and they have been quite successful with the burns.

yes there are controlled burns every year! it was at cedar creek ecosystem science reserve which is where some pretty well-known research is carried out
