The reason that ants don't react to humans unless a part of the human puts an ant in danger is because ants cannot comprehend that a human is another living being. To the ant, we are simply forces of nature that can be somewhat predicted, but when they look up at us, they remain unaware of the fact we breathe, eat, and sleep as they do.
This is what it is like to look up at the night sky. You feel small, and yet grander just for having the ability to look up on a fragment of it. Just merely witnessing it elevates you. It is not possible for you to comprehend the length between the stars or truly how they shift in the empty hollows of space, so the best humans can do is assign numbers to unfathomable, indescribable beauty.

I totally understand you. I’ve also lived in a city for almost my whole life, so I know how frustrating it can be to look up at the sky and barely see anything because of light pollution. But I’ve had the chance to go camping a few times, and being able to experience the night sky like that was honestly amazing.

Seeing the stars away from the city feels almost unreal. There are so many more than you expect, and the sky looks like it’s full of tiny lights scattered everywhere. One thing that amazed me the most is thinking about how that light has traveled such an incredible distance through space just to reach our eyes. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how big the universe is. 

Someone also explained the constellations to me while we were looking at the sky, and it was so interesting trying to find their shapes and imagine the stories behind them. Seeing them with your own eyes feels completely different from just seeing pictures. I really hope you get the chance to experience it someday, because it’s a magical feeling <33
