em-dashes and ai

i really hate how em dashes (-) are being associated with ai now. as a writer who LOVES the em dash, it breaks my heart to see other authors being accused of using ai simply because of a character on your keyboard!

yes, ai does in fact us em dashes a lot, but i've found out how to tell.

em dashes- like that right there, i use. it's probably not the official way to use it for proper writing, i think-- is the 'right' way, but I'm not sure.

ai tends to use --, where there's a space between one word -- and another. usually the font is different so it blends together to make one longer line, but that's just my observation. occassionally they may do it differently like--this. sometimes with no spaces.

but yeah, i don't want my work or anyone else's writing to be called ai simply because of dashes.
