As someone who is now doing online school, I've been trying to get more online friends, it's truly so hard considering everyone wants something more now in days which sucks. I've had way too many instances of people adding me just with the intentions of dating or getting something out of me (sexual wise).
I have taken breaks when things get too overwhelming for me, but I keep trying to make friends even though it's always the same outcome. That's why I'm even on this site.
Another problem I've noticed is I mostly have male friends, Im afraid people will think poorly of me due to it, but the thing is, I've tried to make girl friends but it always ended horribly, not to mention, my ex who was manipulative made me have an unhealthy relationship with females, which is why I struggle way more. I have healed a bit and made a few girl friends here and there, but not as much as guys. :/ I do wish to make more girl friends in the future that's for sure. But only time can tell as always.

Having mainly male friends isnt bad at all! I actually only have female friends, so think of me as a parallel, no one judges me for having only female friends :D I'm sorry youve had those experiences online, I'm sure you'll find someone! Its better to wait for friends who respect you rather than ones who don't..

I get where you're coming from. It really does feel like it's getting harder to find people who just want genuine friendships online. I'm sorry you've had so many experiences where people had other intentions.
And honestly, I don't think having mostly male friends says anything bad about you. Friendships happen naturally, and everyone's experiences are different. It's good to hear you've been able to heal a bit and make some female friends too, even if it's been a slower process.
I hope u find the kind of people who respect your boundaries and are looking for the same thing you are. Genuine friends are definitely out there, even if they can take a while to find. Wishing you the best<33
