Having young parents

It has come to my attention that most people my age have parents that are much older than mine. A lot of people also have parents that are the same age as mine, but I've found that most don't. This isn't really that relevant most the time, but considering this is a MySpace and 2000s inspired website, I thought I'd share some stuff, since my parents were teenagers in the peak MySpace years. 

For context I am 15 years old (born in 2010) and my parents are 36 and 37. My dad actually bullied emo kids, but he was still pretty cool. He was more into grunge and punk. BUT he definitely listened to mcr, fall out boy, and all those kinds of bands, because I've looked through his CD collection. My mom however was very involved in the emo scene. Though she was definitely more of a Hollister emo, and kind of a rich kid. My grandpa was in the military, so she lived all over the world as a kid. I think it was just around when she started high school that they moved to Ontario permanently. 

My mom has been to warped tour at least 3 times from what I know. I will always be so jealous of her for that. (I will list below all the bands that i'm aware she's seen at warped tour). She not only got to see a bunch of really cool bands perform, but she also met a bunch of people. She had friends at the time who were in a band and were performing at warped tour. She says she doesn't remember the name of the band, but she is still friends with the guitarist today. Anyways, because her friends were performing she got to meet a bunch of people from other bands. She has met the entirety of Panic! At The Disco, Mikey Way, and I think one of the members of Fall Out Boy? I'm not sure if she met all of them or just a few members.

So yea my mom is a lucky duck and she really needs to take me to a real concert, cause I've only been to tiny ones hosted in people's backyards and basements. 

On to my childhood! Most people assume that I was a mistake, I was not. My parents got married in September 2009, and I was born in October 2010. I have grown up surrounded by lots of cool music and cool people. The first present I got from my parents was an iPod, which I still have and use to this day. I didn't really appreciate it until I was around 11 tho. I don't actually know how to upload songs to it, and I don't think I can since I only have a chromebook, but luckily my parents put plenty of songs on it for me when I was little. My favourite song when I was 4 years old was Say It Ain't So by Weezer. I think I just liked that the album cover was the same colour as the walls of my playroom though...

I was an only child for the first 4 years of my life, and my most vivid memories are laying on the floor of my basement and looking at the band posters on the walls and ceiling. I remember the Beatles poster always confused me so much because I could never figure out why one guy wasn't wearing shoes. I also remember loving looking at a Green Day's Dookie poster because it was like a where's waldo. I remember being very scared of the Misfits logo as well lol. Another thing I was scared of was my dad's electric guitar. Anytime I heard him plug it in, I would run upstairs because I didn't like how loud it was. 

Despite being scared of my dad's electric guitar until I was 5, I still very much loved instruments. I have been surrounded by musicians my whole life.

Because of this I was always really eager to learn how to play an instrument. I never actually got in to playing music until I was around 7 years old, due to my parents being busy with my little sister. My dad told me I could either start with piano and THEN learn guitar, or just play guitar (lots of choices ik). I really wanted to learn piano much to my parent's disappointment, so I was put in piano lessons. After about 3 months of lessons the teacher updated my parents and said that I was progressing very well. She said that we would have to wait a bit before I learn how to use the pedals though, as I wasn't tall enough to reach them. My dad said this was bullshit, and took me out of piano lessons. And so I began learning guitar, because I WAS tall enough to reach guitar pedals.

I did quit guitar at age 10, but I started up again when I was 12 and have been playing ever since!

As for Myspace, I know my dad didn't have it since he thought it was stupid, but my mom did. However once my dad asked me to take a picture of him and my mom, and made me stand on a chair to get "the Myspace angle".
