Hula Song Nostalgia

I used to be in a halau (hula school) and we had a particular basics/warm up song that we'd always play, Hilo Medley/Mahalo E Hilo Hanakahi, and it basically struck my core and I knew it by heart because we did it every single hula class.

Fast forward around one year, I moved away from that halau, and joined a new one. I hadn't heard Hilo Medley/Mahalo E Hilo Hanakahi is forever, and I'd suddenly found the sound.

I know every word in Hawaiian whether I know the translation or not, and I could probably sing it alone with the instrumental. It makes me tear up remembering my time there.

I miss you, Kumu Chase. And the people in your halau. Love you guys.
