let's talk about the social media ban in some countries

In several countries, like Australia, the goverment is banning social media (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter) for under-16s, and it's just so out of touch it's frustrating.
The main reason why they do this is because (or so they claim) "social media isn't safe for kids", because there is inappropriate content and creeps all around. So instead of trying to fix the problem with the creeps or try to section out the content not appropriate for kids, they decide to blame it on the kids themselves. While I agree that no 8-year-old should be using social media, they're not the ones to blame, but instead the excluding society that has removed all child-safe websites AND exposed the kids at a very, VERY young age to social media tagged for 13+. I'm talking about *those* kind of parents who will give their 4-year-old the phone with TikTok installed in it so they stay quiet in restaurants.
But nooo, instead of fixing the problem, they do what they always do, blame the innocent party.

tbh, i can see the benefit to that in some way because there are some things that children should definitely not get exposed to. i mean even if we section out the content for kids and adults, the adults will still somehow infiltrate the kids space (youtube kids for an example). however, the social media bans and chat control are definitely done in bad faith and are probably just ways for the government to spy on us more discreetly
