I genuinely don't know what I'm gonna if I don't get into college
College is genuinely the only affordable way I'm ever gonna be able to leave my town
I have no money saved up, no useful skills, no one in my town hires unless you know someone, there's virtually no entry level online jobs, and I can't make too much money if not my mom will lose more of her food stamps
I have only one college in mind that I can major in film in that won't cost a fortune and two in a half months to curate a portfolio that will be good enough for them to let me in
I know I have a decent shot at getting
I have good grades, I have a 3.8 GPA, my teachers like me, and I've already secured two letters of recommendation from my teachers and one from my guidance councilor
But I also know that there is always someone better than me, who didn't give up their creative dreams back in elementary school for something "more realistic"
Someone who still wrote stories and scripts without a care if their grade slipped a bit
Someone who volunteered for a cause they believed in rather than staring at a wall for three hours debating whether or not to study or to clean
Someone who's obtained skills through actually doing something they like rather than hiding it away because they had homework
I am terrified of that person

Just FYI, college is hands down the least affordable way to leave your town lol
It is for me cuz my FASFA covers my entire tuition

My town is essentially filled with either rich small business that only hire people they know or larger businesses that only hire people with at least 5+ years of experience. No one in my family has a car, so there is no way for me to get a job in my town. No job means no money which means no leaving. Getting into a dorm and getting an on-campus job or a job near the college is my only hope in making money
