Since the age of 13 i have liked goth girls. It was a pretty formative event in my life and I've liked them ever since. However I can't help but shake the feeling that they'd want nothing to do with me. I don't share anything in common with them! Politically, musically, or aesthetically. I have respect for what they do, though. It really hurts my soul and it's been bothering me for months now. Perhaps I'm too much of an optimist assuming they'd be willing to date outside of their niche, but I'm clinging on to what little hope I have left. I feel like an outsider, lost and wandering, like I don't belong anywhere.

perhaps your luck would grow if you were to be less interested in aesthetics and weren't self-deprecating to the verge of what feels like dry-begging. if you admit you have nothing in common with these girls, and have no interest in being similar -even in the way of having interests that don't involve dressing in a certain style, then maybe you should realize this seems like more of a fetish than a "type".
the solution to your problem would be trying to date within your means, or becoming comfortable without having a girlfriend.
