Please Keep Saying The Real Ass Words

i cant stress this enough. im so tired of the whole "algospeak" thing. it pisses me off SO BAD.

this is one of the few sites left that isnt overrun by shitty algospeak, so im putting it here: stop censoring yourself. say kill. say murder. say die. say fuck. say sex. say rape. im so tired of how modern algospeak has become the norm on the internet, because it's literally changing how we talk and feel about those topics on a base level and im tired of pretending it isnt

you wanna know why modern websites push you to say shit like "unalive" or "shaboinking" or "graped" and more?? because it makes it so much harder for people to actually discuss those topics at all. because so much of modern social media is designed to push you deeper into whatever problem youre dealing with by making it harder for you to talk about it. the internet is a place where you can find , meet, and talk to so many people with so many different experiences, making stuff like horrific experiences like assault, attempted murder, eating disorders, medical complications, and more so much easier, and helping people be aware of who or what to avoid.

wanna talk about how you were assaulted to spread awareness? or how youre worried that the 2020s are starting to look like the 2000s in terms of diet trends? or how certain demographics are literally being killed in the streets? cant do that without walking on eggshells my friend, and when you say stuff like "i was graped by John Doe," or "completely cutting sugar from your diet will unalive you," or "they shot a child with a pewpew," it's a lot harder for it to hit the same. it both desensitizes people to the seriousness of whats being discussed, and makes it harder for it to be seen as a serious matter.

to conclude: dont say "unalive." dont say "grape." dont say "pew pew." keep saying "died/killed." keep saying "rape." keep saying "gun."

do not let the algorithm define how you talk about certain matters. that's how they win.

I strongly agree with this. As much as trying to avoid triggering people (which is what warnings are for), saying 'subsitute' words as you mentioned, "grape" and "unalive", it only feels like your desensitizing the true meaning and the impact it's had on so many individuals! They've suffered through mountains in pain and we can't even say the real word for it?

"But if it might trigger people, it might scare kids!" Well they need to know the truth whether it's uncomfortable or not. Having people grow up used to the 'subsitute' words will never help them truly feel the intensity of reality. And yeah, people might complain, "It's just a word, let it rest, it's not that deep." Well, unfortunately for you, I don't think you'll never realize how deep it is. It is that intense.

"but think of the children..." social media is 13+. if parents cannot tell their kids about mature topics theyre bound to come across on the internet before letting them on the internet it isnt my job to treat every post i make like a sesame street episode. im about to post a bunch of blogs about chainsaw man and mfs will say "think of the kids" like it wasn't TV-MA to begin with.

I think people forgot that the only reason to use words like "unalive" and "grape" is simply to bypass the censorship, so your video won't get taken down. There's no reason to use such language in real life or on sites where your post won't be taken down for that language

even then, do they know what an asterisk is??

r*pe, m*rder, s*x, etc. its literally the same as a television bleep. it gets the message across without you desensitizing whats being said
