Slanted Political Activism

Hi, everyone.

As we move through election season, many people feel compelled to express their convictions and participate fully in the democratic process. I respect that completely. The right to vote and to support the candidates who reflect one’s beliefs is an important part of our civic life, and I encourage everyone to use that right.

With the above in mind, I need to set a clear boundary. Please do not send campaign materials or slanted political messaging to me. Recently, someone reached out through one of my non-FR blogging sites with an extremely partisan appeal, urging me to take a public stance in an “us versus them” way. They identified themselves as a member of Friend Rewind, and while this is not the first time a political comment has come my way from an alleged FR member via another platform, the timing and intensity made me realize I should address it directly.

Many of you already know that I am a political centrist, a fact that I clearly state on my Medium blog. I view American political beliefs as a broad spectrum, ranging from far left to far right, with most people falling somewhere in between. Because of that, my own positions can align with different parts of the center depending on the issue. Still, my online work focuses on history and personal reflection rather than political advocacy, and I intend to keep it that way.

In a nutshell, I am simply asking that no one try to pull me into partisan conflict or encourage me to produce content aimed at opposing any group. I value thoughtful discussion, but I am not interested in contributing to polarization or hostility.
