story about me embarassing the hell out of myself trying to speak portuguese XDDDD

Sooooo i wanted to post this somewhere cuz I thought it was funny and want to be self-deprecating

so the other day i walked to this tiny little Brazilian shop? why? CUZ I WANTED GUARANÁ

Anyways- so i walk in there, and open with "olaaaa" and for those who dont know "ola" and "hola" sound identical spoken, whiiiiiich was my first mistake

So this guy was like "tudo bem" and asked if i spoke spanish and I awkwardly said bem and I was like "no eu falo meio português, still learning *long pause* trying"

And so i got and grab guarana awkwardly and then go to pay and the whole time im just the most embarassed reck cuz it seems like i want something but i dont and so i go to pay and i dont remember what he said but i didnt understand and was just basically defaulting to "obridagoa" or "desculpe me" at this point cuz all the vocab i had went out the window and so i awkwardly left and was like "bye- um, right uh, tchau" and then left

Like you do not know how embarrassing that was like holy shit-

Like I didn't even TRY TO PRACTICE BEFOREHAND like i KNOW I can't speak Portuguese. I can WRITE IT, but I cant speak it for the life of me! so for some reason i thought the guarana was worth waling in their and making an ass out of myself XDDDD

but hey, yk what, the walk there was nice, and I got my friend some and she was happy, so i guess thats somthing. Also i mean idk, I bet the dude was probably happy i even TRIED speaking portugeuse cuz he clearly doesn't get a lot of Portuguese-speaking customers (to be vague, the town has a high Spanish-speaking population so yk) and i did leave him a tip to make up for my bad as hell Portuguese so yk whatevr its fine

but just you wait- once i get good, ima waltz back over there and peak my head in and be like "eu voltei😈" and ACTUALLY speak portuguese and buy something other than guaraná XDDDD i love it but also i had meant to buy a snack while i was there too but ended up not cuz i was WAY to "fight or flight" where my brain was just like  "FLIGHT FLIGHT FLIIIIIIGHT-"
