I finally decided to make the switch.
I'm going to be downgrading my phone to a dumbphone, aka a flip phone. No apps. Especially ones that I have to download or use the auto-selected ones just to text. One of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
I'm just tired. I'm tired of perfectionism and the idea of constantly having to be impressive and visually filtered. I'm tired of watching people online and everyone pretending that's connection when it is not. I miss phone calls. I miss letters. I miss photos that you had no idea even looked good, so you had to wait to find out. Well, maybe not that one as much. I might not be as patient as I once was.
I looked bad in that unfiltered picture? Well, I sometimes (most of the time) look bad in pictures. We all do from time to time, and that's okay. I don't have synthetically smooth skin. I'm sorry, not really; I have pores. It's how my skin functions. Healthy skin you do your best for health's sake- is fine. Striving for some filter to make you look uncanny is depressing for me.
I'm also going back to a digital camera and camcorder. I already have that Fujifilm Instax camera. Which I love; not so much the price of the film, but I can't win for losing when cash is involved. I'm broke just like everyone else. So, it will be a small switch for me at this time. Slow but definite.
My home videos will be as my life is: imperfect. I love imperfect things. Well, healthy imperfect, not "I need therapy but refused to go, not just because it's expensive" imperfect. More like, yeah, it rained during my wedding day, or that flower that looks nothing like the image on the seeds but is still beautiful because you grew it and kept it alive. Nothing, end of the world, just part of the world.
I'm hoping to be completely switched over; prices are slow to move, in at least 10 months, roughly. Going back on some of those items is too pricey to switch at once. Still, it's going to happen.
This is just me, though. I have no issues if someone doesn't feel that way or want that. I just want this for me and my sanity. Not that we aren't all insane to some extent. I just want to be a little more sane, and I think this will help me immensely.

I miss when you "visited" the internet, instead of basically living inside this weird algorithmic hellscape
not saying the 2000's was somehow better or that people were nicer (people being people, it was pretty toxic/brutal.... *EEEEKK*
)
nonetheless, there's something really appealing about going back to physical tech and making it feel like something you use .
For sure, it was very toxic and no where near as welcoming, not that as a society we've been so welcoming as a whole. But, I will agree when it was more work to physically use something instead of immediate access to algorithms and content nonstop.
Thanks for the comment.
