it means you can post your snide little remarks
and they just see "someone mentioned you"
they can't participate themselves you see
it's your own safe space to slander others

update: defect is now aware of how tagging blocked users can be something which is widely abused, that it is indeed a bad thing, that it shouldn't even be a thing on his forum and is now taking active steps to remedy it. tysm based admin ily5ever xoxo

i'm also going to suggest an idea here
ppl who choose to block you should be barred from even being able to tag you. by implementing that as a feature, they are then prohibited from diverting your attention to threads that you cannot even respond to
