The current Alternative scene as a whole and my take

This topic has been on my mind a bit lately and I need to talk about it.

Lately theres been such a different shift in the alternative community that I've noticed, it's almost like people are trying to idk how to put it but "be more alternative" then their other peers.

I've seen some people say "erm actually Alternative is becoming sooo mainstream" have you STEPPED outside 😭😭maybe it's because you only are online and thats all you see on there. In the actual wild is like wheres waldo, only place I've actually found some (which, expected) are at either hot topic, or a concert. Yes maybe it is a bit bigger now, but also sorry everything is not niche and tiny as well, a good chunk of people also in the alternative community are in fact children and teenagers trying to figure out life. I WAS one of those kids.😭

It's kinda the whole argument of like "oh if you like __ popular band you're suchh a poser" or I've seen things like "well if you don't go into mosh pits your a poser" but then the same people go and glorify hot topic as god right after complaining about fast fashion like temu or shein. (This is coming from one who thrifts almost most of my clothes and diys a lot, so I am just as much against fast fashion as the next person, shein/temu is horrible and child labor should not be supported.)

do we just poser check people for a living or what gang cuz im getting tired of this. Like I do agree, there are real actual posers, which in my mind dictionary is someone who supports actual fast fashion and tries to do it for social clout or a reasoning like that. But if they actually like it then??? by all means go ahead??? and yes "what about the music?" of course thats important i mean thats what this whole spectrum started out as originally and I think its important to a degree and also community is also a big thing but a lot of the bullying I've seen is on young alternative kids/baby bats/whatever u wanna call them who are just getting started and are curious. 

And another note on it, it feels like everybody is putting WAYY too many labels on stuff. YES they are important, but if one doesn't know what their style is and exploring and figuring it out then just kinda leave them be... like cmon gang "ummm! I'm so 2000s older brother gothic decroa monster energy angel video game rebel core!" alright guys 😭😭 like me personally I kinda don't know what to call myself anymore if anything I'll just say I'm a metalhead which I am but.. I like a lot of goth clothing elements but at the same time I enjoy some other stuff and the gyaru style, does that make me a poser now that I like all of that and not JUST metalhead stuff? (according to them)😭😭

It just kinda feels like people have overcomplicated a lot of the community, originally it was about being different and enjoying different types of music but its just became a mess.. 

And a side rant;

For those who aren't aware, Wendy's recently made an "emo album" yes i'm not kidding. Which featured Silverstein, memphis may fire and blessthefall. (which, "ACTUAL" emo or not but its actual bands in the scene) and a lot of people are arguing over the fact that its a big brand doing all of this and i feel like also taking it a lot more serious than it was supposed to be. Yeah wendys is a big brand, literally every fast food place is. I don't think it's supposed to be taken seriously take a look at the lyrics 😭I'm probably gonna get flamed over this but I kinda don't care personally? I think the song about fries is funny and catchy and made me giggle a bit. omg emo song about fries. Not calling it the best music ever it does sound VERY polished which I don't like but, I think calling anybody a poser (which i've seen) who likes it even just BARELY is a stretch. Ok yeah call it slop im not defending it here, but also on the flipside have you guys heard any modern mainstream metal as of rn, like HAVVE you heard sleep token gang. (sorry not that sorry) I just feel like a whole lot of music kinda in general has became so polished over. (There is wonderful music actively coming out and great bands that are doing amazing, so not everything, im just talking the current mainstream.) 

anyway thats my rant  thanks for reading its probably really inconsistent I keep getting distracted by Ashes At Last in my ears rn. Maybe I'm a poser myself for all this but I kinda don't... care? 😭at the end of the day I feel like we don't have to validate ourselves to this degree. its just getting tiring
