I have the cutest summer story to tell!
I chose not to date in college, but I just graduated so I started considering being in a relationship. I've always avoided dating apps and hoped to meet someone "in the wild," but I knew it wasn't likely to happen because I don't go to clubs or bars.
Anyway, I moved to a different state for the summer. Mid-June, I went to an event at the public library, and I started talking to the guy sitting beside me. Almost immediately I was so invested in our conversation - how smoothly it was going and how interesting he was! But towards the end I kind of got overwhelmed and left suddenly. As soon as I got home, I told my roommate all about it; she said that based on the stuff he asked me about, he was definitely interested in me and had been trying to get my number. Well, drat! I couldn't even remember his name!
Well, two weeks later, I went to another event at the library. I really hoped he would be there, and I dressed up a little bit and was really thinking more about him than the event itself. And he was there!! After the event, we walked around town together and went to the skate park. He asked me on a date, and now we've been hanging out very frequently, and he's being clear that this is a serious romantic thing, which I appreciate.
On the 4th of July, I went out in his boat with a couple of his friends, and I'm so glad I did because those friends had actually been wingmen on the dl. They told me that after he and I had met the first time, he'd gone to them and said that he had met this super cool girl but hadn't managed to get her number. He knew I work as a boat inspector, so his friends, who drive around a lot for work, searched around at local lakes to see if i was working at any of them LOL. Apparently he wouldn't shut up about me.
It was just so cute that after meeting for the first time, we'd both gone home and enthusiastically told our friends about each other and started trying to figure out how to see the other again. I've been embarrassingly delulu about people in the past, but this time the person I liked actually felt the same, and that is just so nice. <3
