I've been thinking about one of the things Jean Genet, a French writer, has said:
"Human beings absorb everything. They are not changed by a book, a painting, or a piece of music. They are gradually changed by the combination of it all. And they use it in their own terms."
It honestly makes me reflect. Looking back on past versions of myself, for example, there was a time I was so deeply in a certain area. Constant DSBM, wrong choices, won't get too personal on here, but I definitely was on an interesting path. Constant complaining about the dread and agony I felt, writing about the pain I was feeling, even noticing how it dragged on those around me. Let me make it clear: nothing wrong with DSBM, I'm ngl pyschonaut 4 smacks and so does the Norwegian side. But at an undeveloped mind feeding my subconscious the lyrics, low rhythms, and finding communities that reinforced that misery. It did nothing but wrap me in a self-trap. Def sounds like some cringe discord mod here lmao. But the point I am making is I do agree wit
h Genet on how humans absorb everything. People's multiple interests, for example, or the form of media people consume. And that idea is beautiful because humans aren't shaped by one thing; we're the mess of things experienced and absorbed. You become, in part, what you constantly surround yourself with, sometimes not realizing it's shaping you until you look back on certain versions of yourself.

Enough of my overyapulation, hopefuly this all made sense.
