The Tiny Joy Archives #11: A Big Little City Adventure ּ ֶָ֢.⋆˚꩜｡ּ

September 15th, 2026:

This weekend we went on one of those outings that was technically very small, but somehow felt like a whole little adventure.

No road trip. No set in stone plans. No dramatic itinerary we both want to ignore.

Just me, my partner, a tiny Critter passenger, and a mission to wander around our own city for a while.

We started with the important stuff: MATCHA.

Critter came along into the coffee shop with us and proceeded to make her self comfortable around my drink like she had personally ordered it. I respect her confidence. 

From there we wandered toward the lake, stopping approximately every twelve seconds because I spotted something I needed to take a picture of.

Berries???

Cute tree???

Flowers???

Ohhhh, you KNOW there was going to be a picture.

At this point my partner has simply accepted that going for a walk with me means occasionally standing near by while I crouch beside a plant and photograph a tiny plastic animal. 

And honestly, I love that for us.

The lake was beautiful, the weather was crisp, and everything just felt a little slower just for a while.

We took pictures, wandered around, looked at the flowers, found little pockets of nature tucked into the middle of our city, and had one of those really simple days that somehow leaves you feeling fuller afterwards.

I've said this before and will say it again. I am realizing that these are some of my favourite adventures.

Nothing huge happened.

We didn't go anywhere particulalry far away.

But.

There was matcha.

There were berries.

There were flowers.

There was a tiny Critter getting photographed like she was documenting her own international vacation.

And there was me and bae, wandering around together and making an ordinary weekend feel a little bit special.

Sometimes a big adventure is really a small one you decided to pay attention to.

And I think that counts. ♥

Tiny Note from the Field: Realizing there are still so many pretty little corners of my own city that I haven't properly noticed yet.
