Writing help

Ok so I've been getting into writing lately and I have a few ideas I want to write as a story but I can't figure out how to curate it. It's like I can think of the words and it'll sound good but then I begin writing and it all goes down hill. I use the same words over and over again and rewrite the same sentence just different and it really upsets me. I also don't know how to write perspectives like when two characters are interacting. I tried writing in first person viewpoint(ORV mentioned) but I just can't. Writing in first viewpoint just makes me...uncomfortable. I don't know why but I keep pushing through it until I can't anymore and just give and wait a few months before returning to the writing. The one thing that has worked for me a little bit was just writing in the dark without stopping. Not stopping for spaces or to fix missed spelled words. Once I turn on the lights I begin to rewrite it. But then I become self conscious of my writing and erase the whole draf. I need advice on how to write correctly. What really upsets me is school. In my English class we are giving HOTS with questions to answer in writing and I can do that perfectly! I just don't understand why I can't write at home.

getting creative works from the brain to the paper is such a difficult task LOL

my biggest suggestion is DONT ERASE THE DRAFT!!!! even if its 'bad' and you hate it, keep working through it because sometimes the only way out is through. you can always go back and fix things, but its hard to move forward when youre always putting yourself back at the starting point. theres a reason rough drafts exist (even if its a pain to rewrite everything XD).

im with you on first person pov, i cant even read it without feeling uncomfortable so kudos to you for pushing through with writing it!! if you want to write in third person pov, its completely fine to use epithets even if other people on the internet say otherwise 🙄 lol.

ive found that having a hyper specific thing to write about (eg. answers to questions) is a lot easier than writing freely because it gives you a hard set goal.

are you always writing about the same thing/idea?? if you are you might want to give your brain a break from it and try writing about something else, even if its just a small paragraph. i know my brain gets bogged down when i spend too much time focusing on one thing/idea. this is why my homebrew dnd campaign isnt finished yet after a year XD

i know its hard but try not to get upset with yourself. this kind of stuff is completely normal because writing is HARD. the first time i ever wrote a story i WAYY over explained the details about a character's outfit.... literally over a paragraph long on it.... yikes. remember that its ok for things to be 'bad' because thats how you grow and learn.
