what songs or albums are you listening to during hard times?
I don't mean 'sad day' type of hard times, I mean 'not sure how I'm going to make it through this' hard times.
What albums got you through another day?
Maybe you had it on a bit of a loop for days and weeks while trying to get through the bad times?
@GillFilmReviews21 I think there's a difference between listening music to fill the space so your brain is a bit switched off vs listening to either engage with your sadness or heal from it (lime with the Ween song).
I'm sorry to hear about your dog's passing. Even more sad to think I'll never get the chance to meet him in this incarnation.

I love a sad song, allows me to indulge rather than bottling it up and making it worse or prolonging it. Makes me feel like I'm not alone, if someone can masterfully turn it into art and share it.
I Threw Glass at My Friend's Eyes and Now I'm on Probation by Destroy Boys was one for me, for a bit more of a specific issue,
It's Okay, I Wouldn't Remember Me Either by Crywank is another,
One More Light by Linkin Park always gets me too, if not for the additional sadness it inspires and a resolution to not hurt people in a similar way. Reminds me I have an impact on those around me.
two things awe me most: the starry sky above me, and the moral law within me" @medeuxsa I agree with this as at least one part ... perhaps the beginning part ... of dealing with hard times through music! Different songs for me, of course, but same process!
@Cranky Old Witch ok here are some releases i'd listen to a lot back in my worst times (still do) and why:
Raw black metal:
Why: This music to me sounds eerie, decrepit/disgusting, evil and sometimes sad - I cope with it by romanticizing with it the terrible headspace I am in.
Industrial Hardcore:
Why: It was loud, it was agressive, it helped drown out my thoughts.
Detroit Techno:
Why: It sounds bittersweet but hopeful. I could feel sad but still look towards the future.
Forgot to mention before as I usually lump it into raw bm but... Dark Ambient:

Damn, though. It's that self-romanticism of trauma that's a real bitch. Like playing martyr, victim, or hero for enduring - situation depending.
@Cranky Old Witch When I am in the deepest pits of my depression it feels a bit nice to act all cool and mysterious about it lol, because it's either that or me doing something far worse and permanent
EDIT: Not to mention releases like Voices of the Dark Call me to Suffer sound so agonizing it's nice knowing someone else feels the same way.

basically when feeling down or melancholic, and im just daydreaming through it,
