I’m very big into the 2000s (obvi) like the style, music, and just everything abt it!! But does anyone else try to REALLY live like it’s that time, like using the slang, listening to mainly 2000s music and watching mainly 2000s movies & shows? I also try to collect a lot of physical media and I try to stay off of newer social medias and I only really use YouTube, friendrewind, spacehey, and tumblr bc it rlly makes me feel more like I’m in the 2000s. Basically what I’m trying to say is does anyone else do this, and if so do you have any other recs to make it feel more like the 2000s?
i do but unconiously .... i personally feel like everything from the 2000s was better ESPECIALLY the media. it has warped my perception of time a bit and made me forget its 2026 because im so engulfed within the 2000s,..
some things i could recommend are only listening to music on your ipod or through cds, only watchingg ytbers from the late 2000s early 2010s so your feed becomes ONLY that (OORRRR use kamtape.... its been one of my obsessions lately I think its so cool. its a late 2000s youtube revival website!!! https://www.kamtape.com/) and ofc i dont think you do based of what you wrote but also just not using more modern apps like tiktok.,
ALSOALSO ntm when you only watch things from the 2000s the slang becomes natural in your brain so you dont really think about using it deliberately, aswell as it stops you from really using newer slang because you jst arent aware OF new slang ..
MAIINNNLY USING YOUR LAPTOP RATHER THAN YOUR PHONE aswell as making the main tech you use older tech!! tbf im broke asl so this has always been easy for me.... but if you have more modern tech and you can downgrade YOU SHOULD!
@doedeer Yes! I’m planning on getting getting an iPod but listening 2 music only though my cds has been a big thing for me recently, and ty 4 the website I will b using this all the time lolz !!! :DDD

OMG YESSS sometimes i find it hard because when i go out i see all the modern stuff and its like "stepping into the future" if that makes sense? i just wish the 2000s look never left or just evolved to frutiger aero XD

Partially, in the sense of trying to be more "offline", i.e. less social media scrolling and more activities with my PC shut down, started up my own CD collection, which has helped me get back into reading as well. There are some things I find to be better now, the key thing is to stay as far away from generative slop and doomscrolling-related activities
Im trying to live in the 90s, obvs cant get rid of my phone but i’m tryna dress more like if ? and also get more physical media (Cds instead of spotify, Books instead of Kindle, Magazines instead of youtube). 2000s is cool tho. I watch mainly lots of like 90s/80s high school movies but some other stuff too.

Born in the early 2000s but my memory suuuuucks so I don't remember it like at all, but I've always been one for physical media and am seriously considering getting like an old mp3 player. Already use my 3ds as one so I might as well just get a normal one at that point.

lowkey I'm convinced its 2006 and I lowkeyyyy don't have any knowledge on any current trends or anything going on in this world so YES I'll play my Tony hawk pro skater, listen too green day on my walkman and do a buncha other stuff cuz it makes me happy

I also barley use my phone unless I’m at my moms house where I don’t have a computer
I also decorate my room to look older
But I don’t ever say y2k or 2000s because no one did that then and I just find it annoying

Yes! Also from what I’ve heard Roblox wasn’t really that big when it first came out and not many ppl used it during that time so ur rlly just adding to the idea of living during that time :D

I might start doing this because I dunno I just get nostalgia for what I never had yknow? besides it seems healthier to use less social media anyways. I might start collecting CDs and stuff like that

Yes u shud! Ik for me atleast getting off of social medias has helped me in many different ways and I’ve found more things I like doing! ALSO YESSS !!! CDS R AWESOME! I use mine all the time and any physical media in general is just super sick :D
