What is the worst social media you've been in?

It isn't that known in terms of bad social media like Amino but the staff of Project Z were probably one of the laziest and most negligent people ruling an app ever. But not even Project Z/Clover.Space would be that bad as their next project: OluOlu

That app is genuinely so bad, everything is so slow, glitches are everywhere and it's completely unmoderated. Not even Amino on his worst days was that bad. What is the worst social media you've been in?

friend project also uses a ton of ai iirc. 

SpaceHey. it was good at first and it became really worst.

gotta give it to spacehey. thankfully i wasn't at the time everything went wrong there, but it was really promising, i guess everything has it's time.

There were a deluge of Miiverse clones that popped up immediately after it shut down and all of them were hellish. Populated exclusively by incredibly dysfunctional people being pushed into situations that ended horrifically for all parties involved. It felt very Synanon-ish, looking back at it. They all died off around the time the pandemic happened, so I'd say that's one positive thing that came out of the lockdowns.

if discord counts, definitely that. had some terrible experiences there as a teen ;_; 

if not, instagram was probably the worst because i used to have a lot of people from my school on there and they were almost all awful

it was already said but i still wanna say amino, as a person who spent there wayyyy too much time back in the day. the amount of preds in this app was atrocious. thankfully i never got groomed there (but there were attempts, thankfully they all failed because i was too socially dumb back then and just ignored everyone, wow my avoidance issues saved me), but the stories other people tell are horrible. unfortunately it was inevitable because amino was a fandom-based space at its core, and fandoms always consist a lot of minors, and preds go everywhere where minors are. its sad that children can't have a safe space just for themselves without being put at risk sigh

Vampire freaks was full of toxicity. 

Google+ was a ghost town, I'm writing about it in a blog post, hopefully I'll publish it one day. 

Hi5 was full of glitches and double standards, you could get banned without the chance to appeal or even know what rule you supposedly broke. 

Any social media that enforces a shadowban and uses AI for moderation. 

Bluesky, Facebook and Threads 

4chan scares me

Facebook.  It's only useful for local community news pages now -- but even those are infested with frustrating and clueless individuals, mainly of a certain age range.  

does vidlii count? if so, by far the worst. lit a full blown alt right cesspool. deleted my acc from there last yr whn i found out abt kamtape (then known as epiktube) n nvr returned

Instagram is fucking terrible, I recently deleted my account there. It’s a platform that thrives off negativity and it gives you the urge to argue with complete dumbasses.

Bluesky would be a close second for me, I fell for all the posts saying it was better than Twitter/X. In reality it’s the same bullshit, just with a different political leaning.

Snapchat. People make a big deal about literally anything and turn it to a full blown argument for no good reason.
