Bring your bigger guns. Let's scare eachother.

I loved the vibes of Taking of Deborah Logan. I know the cgi was kind of cheesy at times but the underlying concept and allegory of Alzheimer’s is pretty relatable. My grandma had it before she died.

ill have to run through my list on this one.
Are we talking anything metaphysically evil? or just like, just ghosts?

It's actually a break up movie masquerading as a horror! 😆 "that scene" - the horrific one - comes earlyish, un bright daylight, no soundtrack or horror inducing noise effects. Just 'matter of fact' and to me, that makes it so much more realistically visceral! Also, I like to bookend this film with The Wicker Man (the original one with Christopher Lee)

YES, you described it perfectly!! those types of "horror" stick with you more than say, something like the ring or the conjuring. and omg watching those back to back sounds miserable! (in a good way?!?!!) the moral of the story is.. humans be scary af

@Linkie

I'm no horror maven, but I reckon folk horror to be my favorite genre

Linkie wrote:@Cranky Old Witch GOD that movie is so good. I think i mentioned it before to Kaal, but the scene that freaked me out the most was actually *SPOILER ALERT!* what the sister did to the whole family! for whatever reason that's always stuck in my brain as the most horrific part! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Another day, another attempt to ask Linkie, have you watched gonjiam yet?

oh, absolutely. the *insert every expletive known to man here* who did what he did just makes me want to cry every time i think about it, mostly because it can and HAS happened irl (not the monster part but yknow what i mean lol) NOT TO GET TOO DARK but, uhh yeah!

Rest in peace to your grandmother. May her soul rest in peace. Yeah the cgi was kinda meh, but I felt like the entire movie was leading up to that one scene in the cave. You've got a cute name tho.

Metaphysical entities in general, although ghosts do... categorically speaking fall within that broader classification. What this list truly requires are entities such as spiritually corrupted souls, angels, demons, and otherworldly entities that inhabit the metaphysical domain.

ah ok then.

ill skip the blatantly obvious i guess like polterguest and the shining, evil dead, hellraiser  etc.

Autopsy of jane doe.

Stir of echoes.

Sinister.

lord of illusions ( i think? main bad guy comes back as like a fuckin demon. i think that counts. and its about magic being real)

event horizon  (maybe obvious but i think its great anyway)

The eye   (2002. the asian one)

The ring. (kinda obvious)

The innocents.

resolution (2012)

The endless

Black mountain side.

Dead end (2003)

1408.

Late night with the devil.

in the tall grass.

Phantasm  (popular but i feel still not enough)

Pumpkinhead    .  i mean yeah its a physical beast but its also a vengeance demon.

From beyond (1986)  from the guys that brought you reanimator.

The void (2016)

Grave Encounters  (its cheesy and humorous at first but i think it legit escalates very well. )

I def gotta catch up on my ghosty stuff.

@KILLGAZMOTRON  ooo, great list

@KILLGAZMOTRON

Good list!

I know it's a type, but now I want a film called "polterguest" 😆

Thankya :) :).

The Blair Witch project was filmed about 44 minutes from me. And I knew one of the ladies "interviewed" in the movie. Because of that, it wasn't as scary for me.

The Ring, though. It gave me enough heebee-jeebees. My phone rang just as the movie ended. I refused to answer the phone, even though I knew nothing would happen. The caller happened to be my sister, who had recommended The Ring. I called her back an hour later. We laughed like loons when I told her why I didn't answer her call. What makes it funnier is that I am the bigger horror/paranormal movie fan.
