For those of us who are refugees of that other site, there is an old friend that we just can't invite over directly.
Jon isn't here. And considering that this site might not be as privately secure as that former site, he probably wouldn't have come over as it is.
Never the less, as much as the world may have failed Jon, he made it brighter for those of us who encountered him. Consistently. On the daily.
I had written this blog and posted it over there shortly after confirmation of the devastating news.
Jon may never have been 'here', but I'll still try to act as if he's soon to return!
From some time in Jan, 2026:
Jon has passed away.
I know that's the truth of it, but my heart refuses to believe it. I'm going to carry on

Jon only left positive or supportive comments on bulletins, and we can too

Jon commented on nearly everything, but mostly he never left someone to scream into the void on their own with no one seaming to listen. He'd comment when no one else did, and I hope we can do a bit of the same.

He spoke of the 'mundane' things in his life and shared them with us. 420 report, trips to Malwart and stopping by BK. The doings of his mom and Dita. Making his applesauce. I hope to enjoy more simple pleasures from all of your bulletins and share more of my own

Most of all, he was kind. Always kind. My biggest hope is for all of us to endeavor to be more kind ... at least ...

i never met Jon on SpaceHey, but after finding his profile and reading others’ blogs and comments about him, he sounded like such a genuine and kindhearted person. i wish i was able to meet him before his passing, and i hope he rests well now. all my condolences to him and his family :(

I didn't get to know Jon for as long many other people, but the brief time I did have was always a joy. He was so excited to just... exist. So I will try to be excited, too...

Jon's applesauce recipe:
"Okay! First, see if you can find Cosmic variety apples. They make the best sauce. Don't waste your money on Honeycrisps, they're a hand apple not a sauce apple. If you can't find Cosmics then try Envy, or just go with what you have. Except Red Delicious, never use those for anything. :P
First, peel and core your apples, then cut them into small chunks. Place the chunks in a medium saucepan, with a quarter cup water in the bottom. Cover tightly and cook on low/med low, we're just steaming the apple chunks. Fifteen to twenty five minutes should be long enough, you want the apple chunks to pierce easily with a toothpick.
Take the pan off the heat but don't drain it, that liquid has a ton of flavor. Mash the apple chunks with a potato masher or large spoon, leaving some smaller chunks. You want some texture to your final product. Now the additions for flavor. While the apples are still warm, drop in a teaspoon of butter and a pinch of salt, mix well. Now add a quarter cup light or dark brown sugar, a pinch of cardamom and a good sprinkling of powdered ginger, to taste. Shouldn't overpower the apple flavor, just enhance it.
And that's it! Cover and refrigerate, it lasts forever. Enjoy! :D"
I'm going to have to try this! I miss Jon. I think losing him was the beginning of the end of Spacehey. He was like the glue.
