i talked with a friend recently about fears. we discussed the usual ones, being afraid of the dark, spiders, heights, and so on. but what about the silly or unusual ones?
my friend is terrified of butterflies and i'm deathly scared of frogs.
now i'm curious. what are some of the funniest, weirdest, or most unexpected fears you've heard of? what are some of your own ''silly'' fears?

Egrets. We had this giant egret that roamed the neighborhood a few years back, it freaked me out every time I saw it... had a fascination with our yard because of COURSE. Even tried to eat our watering can, idk why. Thing was massive tho and every time it would strut around it gave me the heebie-jeebies :l Dunno why or how it came about. But my mom has the same fear with horses, despite never having any incidents regarding them. I guess sometimes we just freak out for no reason lmao
@reverie99 i totally get it! there's something about unexpectedly huge animals that just feels a little unsettling
I am really terrified of smelling bad or not being put together properly. I think that is why I have so much clothes & collect perfumes. If I were to be judged, it would not be for either of those things. I even keep tic tacs, Altoids, gum, breath mints, portable mouthwash, mini deodorants, decants of perfume, oils in my bag just in case. It is one of my biggest fears really ( 〃．．)
If I don't wash my hands twice before leaving a restroom, I imagine getting a major disease and dying
escalators. ESPECIALLY the ones that go down. My mortal enemy at the mall.

my biggest, unusual fear is dog's barking 😭 ik it sounds weird but idk why it panics me so much probs why i'll never get a dog even tho i love them. Especially scary when it's nighttime and you start hearing dogs randomly make noise.
I have a really weird fear of Chicken Alfredo. I LOVE shrimp Alfredo, but I can’t stand chicken Alfredo. There was this one time we had flies in the house and one landed in my chicken Alfredo, and I was never able to look at it the same.
Idk if it's silly but it has been a huge fear of mine since I was a little kid of stepping on a dirty needles and contracting diseases.
Mannequins. I’m always super hyper aware around them. I hate it.

my mom is extremely afraid of frogs, snakes, and turkeys. i think she's had bad encounters with all of them. as for me, i think my fear would be dying alone, but i know that's probably not considered silly.
I have a fear of vomit, always have, never really knew why. All I know is that I somehow acquired the fear when I was 4 or so. It was a lot worse when I was a kid though, back then I would panic if I knew someone around me was about to throw up.
As a kid I was also deathly afraid of buzzing noises. There was this time I went with my grandparents to the gas station, and in the store inside they were playing music, which had this slight buzzing noise coming out of them. I genuinely don’t get why that was so scary to me lol
