i talked with a friend recently about fears. we discussed the usual ones, being afraid of the dark, spiders, heights, and so on. but what about the silly or unusual ones?
my friend is terrified of butterflies and i'm deathly scared of frogs.
now i'm curious. what are some of the funniest, weirdest, or most unexpected fears you've heard of? what are some of your own ''silly'' fears?
Getting parasites.

i'm deathly afraid of large bodies of water, what's hiding in the water, drowning, literally anything related to somewhere deep that you can drown in. i had the fear of cockroaches but i overcame it by just playing with them, however the ocean is what you cannot tame. you cannot tame nature, you can only withstand and adapt. i've had so many nightmares and bouts of... sleep paralysis? where i end up in the water and something big gets me and swallows me whole. all is dark and inescapable. it's horrifying.
^ might not be too unusual or silly but... :p i guess i just wanted to say something. LOL. i guess what would be more appropriate for this topic is bringing up my current fear of anglerfish. this sounds kinda weird but i'm just uncomfortable with how they look, plus they live in the deep water ): i wish i could stop that feeling because i like other creepy crawlies like bugs, so why not anglerfish... why anglerfish to be so specific...

i have submechanophobia, which is a fear of man made objects underwater. I cant explain it, but it genuinely triggers a fear response that makes me wanna back into a corner where it cant get me.
Underwater structers, ladders, and buoy chains get me the most. The larger the whatever is, the more disgusting
Birds that have a thousand yard stare, emus especially, huge and tall birds basically
my biggest weird fear is power surges. i legit occasionally have dreams of them frying my computers. so anytime there’s a storm with lightning or high winds, you already KNOW i’m unplugging everything.
that reminds me actually, we are going to get (allegedly BAD) storms later today so i’ll have to unplug my imac again. :p
i think i have nausea anxiety? so much so i would sacrifice the relief it would give my body just to puke lmfao. i get nauseous crazy often. not rlly sure what my deal is, youd imagine id be over it by now. i guess also like... i'm afraid of being perceived. perception frightens me. this is a bit open-ended/philosophical but it manifests in ways like having a shaky favorite color, because i want my image to be flexible and assumption-free lol
this requires a bit of backstory but, it's actually the idea of getting insects/bugs/foreign objects in my mouth.
my personal belief is that since my grandmother said if i misbehaved a cockroach was going to crawl into my ears/permanently stay on my mouth so i wouldn't be able to talk and only a priest could get it off. it was a common threat that really??? i genuinely don't know where she got from. but i think my imagination took it and i physically get ill at the idea that an animal or object can get in my mouth and stay in there lol.
