coffee brand recommendations pls... (USA)

Back to Food & Drink

I get cheap store brand coffee grounds bc I'm poor but for some reason my body just, does not agree with it.

What coffee brand would y'all recommend? preferably something cheaper but also cheap is uh not common for coffee haha

(also creamer/flavoring recommendations would be nice too)

Eight O'Clock Original Ground Coffee and International Delight Coffee Creamer?
just my assumption since i drink tea instead of coffee

chobani creamers - they are flavorful without having any weird oily or alcohol-y aftertastes

Before you toss out your old store brand stuff, consider making your coffee using a cold brew method. Cold brew is less acidic and pulls fewer compounds from the beans. This less acidic brew will have a more chocolatey, sweeter taste. By weight, you want about 1 part grounds to 9 parts water (that's 100 grams of grounds to 900 grams of water). Then, if you want to make the brew more like traditional drip coffee, you'll want to add some additional water when you serve the coffee (typically ice). Cold brew doesn't necessarily mean iced coffee, though.

Just a side note about acidity, you can buffer that acid by eating breakfast. Carbs, fats, and protein can help with some of that intestinal rumbling one might experience when drinking coffee on an empty stomach.

If you still find that coffee is giving you problems, you might want to look into a local roaster. In my city we have a handful and the freshness of this kind of coffee is off the chain.

If that option is too pricey (it may be) Eight 'O'clock sells a Colombian that is really nice and at a fair price if you buy it in a larger bag. You'll want to store most of it in the freezer and keep the stuff you're going you use for the week out if you're concerned about flavor loss (you might not notice though, that's coffee nerd shit tbh).

Can't attest to flavoring because I'm too much of a snob.

@tellmesecrets I def have considered that, just need to sit down and do it

We like Famiy Fare's Smooth Satin, but we like dark roast coffee here.

When I drank coffee it was Folgers Black Silk dark roast coffee.

I've always had a preference for the darker roast coffees when I drank coffee and still do whenever I get a hankering for a cup. I started out drinking Folgers Columbian med dark roast for many years when I very first began drinking coffee when I was about 12 and then moved up to their French Roast and finally ended with their Black Silk before I stopped drinking coffee. For many, many years I use to drink it straight up black then later in life moved to cream and sugar and then the flavored creamers. I used to use the Nestlé Creamers to flavor my coffee with so I decided to switched over to cappuccino about 6 years ago since I really like those as well. I now get 3 or 4 of my favorite flavors and order 6-8 2lb instant cappuccino bags per order through Cappuccino Supreme every 2-3 months. I've got an electric teapot that instantly heats my water in a few seconds, I used to run it through my Mr Coffee coffee maker to heat it up.

this is one of my favs right now

That's a shame that is a UK product. That would've been a product I definitely would've tried because I like anything cherry. @GOAT

If ur anywhere with Safeway or Albertsons their store brand coffee is bomb and usually has deals or coupons on it

Café Bustelo is pretty strong, and tastes good. There’s an instant version, as well.
