Man... I've been looking for some actually good mobile games for a while now, but it feels like every game that's even remotely fun is either a PC game emulator or paid.
I'm not really interested in risking getting a virus, so can anyone recommend some good mobile games to play? Preferably free ones?

As someone who LOVED gaming on my iPod touch, struggling to find a mobile game that isn't a straight up scam today makes me so sad. I've been having some fun with the original Epic Conquest recently. It's a bit grindy, but is actually pretty fun and fair.
Offroad Outlaws is the only game I got on my phone
I have a lot of games on my mobile, just incase of a power outage or no data situation. Though... most of them are 🏴☠️
But I can try recommending some. In the big leagues spot, I really recommend you to use an emulator — modern phones can usually handle PSP and PS1, so I heavily recommend you it. What game should you play though? I have some great ones. The list are more or less games that are less action-demanding, since the button layout sucks for fast-paced.
Persona 1-3 works really well with native PPSSPP button layout. It's a turn-based rpg, so there's really nothing demanding to do.
Patapon is also a great game to play on the PSP.
Basically any other turn-based rpg's work too.
For the real mobile game, I also do have some.
Freebies:
Plants vs Zombies 2 is really fun. The first one may be better, but the current free version of it right now really sucks. I don't recommend it PVZ 1.
Bitlife. It's really fun to experiment around, only downside is that a lot of things are locked behind paywall — and the fun stuff is behind it.
Strikers 1945 is a plane-shooter top down game. I really loved this game back then, and still do today.
Lemonade Business is about selling lemonades... until you're rich, really fun tycoon. I only got this because I wanted to play a game that was the same concept but was on PC. It is still fun though, but it looked really stretched out on my end.
Vampire Survivors... beware of being addicted to it, really fun loop.

Neighbour from Hell (any season) was a nice little game about pranking on your neighbor, so just like Hello Neighbour, except a side-scroller... and that there's no hidden thing but just your character being an asshole to their neighbour.
Any Rockstar games, top quality.
If you love tycoon genre... then the Kairosoft studio is it, literally the ace of mobile tycoons — Game Dev Story, Dungeon Village, and many more...
The Papa's game are a good time waster (Pizzeria, Sushiria, Pancakeria... any of them.)
Spongebob BfBB was on sale for really cheap before. It's a fun game too.
Star Wars : KOTOR,
and last but not least... FNAF series, but also with it's fangames (which are usually free.)
