what songs or albums are you listening to during hard times?

I don't mean 'sad day' type of hard times, I mean 'not sure how I'm going to make it through this' hard times.

What albums got you through another day?

Maybe you had it on a bit of a loop for days and weeks while trying to get through the bad times?

The Sunset Tree by The Mountain Goats, especially the song This Year :)

I'm seeing them next month and if they play that song I WILL be crying

🔆Sol🔆

@Sol dang, how you gonna keep it together through the concert? 😮

@Sol I love the Mountain Goats!!! This year is on repeat for me too

Oohh..I listen to Ween a bit, honestly. "waving my dick in the wind" and "Mollusk" just..I dunno. They kind of help me think through those times and try to pull myself together. I'm not too sure why! It just..helps.

@🦖`🧪/K3_D0D0_b1rd\🥼`🦤 dang, I didn't even consider Ween for this task! Gonna keep that in the back pocket!

The entirety of Make Yourself by Incubus continues to be my emergency album for dark times

It has carried me through again and again, especially a track on there called The Warmth

Remember,

I actually have a playlist created for when things get heavy for me.  It's my Not Doing Well playlist. It has a mix amount of songs on it and it helps out a lot. It's set up to where others can add songs to it and it's awesome.

🕯️ "Meet me where the leaves are falling and the air feels like magic."

@classic_livvy well sure, but what's on it? What're your gotos?

@Cranky Old Witch lol, I was avoiding that, I get judged for my music a lot, I'm working on not letting it bother me but it still does sort of. Lol, it as P!NK, Wynonna, Kesha, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jason Mraz and more. If you're on Spotify you can add to it 😊

🕯️ "Meet me where the leaves are falling and the air feels like magic."

@classic_livvy I frequently listen to music that's 80 or 90 years old. What's more, I post some of the most seemingly ridiculous stuff ever ever ever on this site.

Not only will you hear NO judgement from me, but I'll FIGHT ANYONE who comes after YOU over taste in music!

Couple of things I've learned about music over the long decades:

For me, there are only two kinds of music.

    Only two.

        Music I like ... and ...

            Music I don't like .... yet!

The other thing I've learned is that taste in music is a lot like farts. Your own is 'okay' and everyone else's stinks!

@Cranky Old Witch thank you ❤️

When I think back to the hardest time I've ever had in my life, it wasn't black metal or anything that folks assume it would be for me;  it was seriously Depeche Mode and Q Lazzarus.

@Kommando Mutiliid yeah, it be like that sometimes

@Cranky Old Witch

You know it.

'time is not a healer' by look mum no computer is a frequent one when im down. reminds me of rlly hard times in life but ones that i made it thru alright

vanished by crystal castles

Care by TEMPOREX

idunno theres just something about them that sound comforting in comparison to all the loud music i listen to.

Hmm… when I think back to my worst times what kept me going was either raw black metal or techno (mostly detroit techno and industrial hardcore)

IN THE SIGN OF SATAN - DEVOID OF LIFE.... FOREVER

@ENDLESSVOID those are genres. What are your goto songs or albums?

All of it honestly. Hard to name just a song or an artist. I like  playing any song I can find to fill my head and stop thinking about the current situation...but, I listened to Ocean Man by Ween for like 2 hours when my first dog died years ago.

"Why do hot dogs come in packages of 10, while hot dog buns come in packages of 8?"

Inanimate sensation - Death Grips
When i first listened to it, it felt like a slap to the face but the kind that wakes you up
