Thought I'd carve out a wee spot away from social media bickering, drama, and trollishness.

And create what I hope is a nice place for the simple pleasures in life. Those wee wholesome moments that you deeply enjoy.

The smell of a good used bookstore.

Walking by the river in spring and seeing the new baby ducks that season.

The energetic feeling just before a thunderstorm breaks.

Lunch with an old friend that you haven't seen in a while.

Whatever!

What are the small 'everyday' sort of things that you cherish and make you happy?

Freshly brewed tea. Can't beat it.

My mom still being around, even though she can still be a pain (as we all can be).

Seeing the sunrise, especially on a day where nothing is expected of me.

Having a good talk with someone I can be myself around. That doesn't come so often.

Finding a new song to become obsessed with.

Air conditioning on a hot day.

OMG yes to all of these!

i love that after a long day in the office, i can sit out on my balcony and watch a sunset and hear the birds all gossiping with each other!

i love that i can randomly call my sisters and mum and chat about nothing for hours.

i love wearing a matching set of pajamas; it's such a cute and simple joy in life!

@pondjoose To add — matching set of underwear😅 Makes me feel like a baddie!

✨💖✨✌️✨

@Rose✨ yesss so freaking good!

i love that moment when a room feels reset after i've tidied it, even just a little. hearing distant sounds at night like cars, wind, muffled voices, when everything else feels really still. that soft light right before sunset, when everything turns kind of golden and unreal. walking under streetlights at night, when everything feels a bit cinematic and detached. and i also re-read the same paragraph in a book sometimes, not because i missed it, just because it feels nice to sit with it again.

Taking a walk late at night or early in the morning when no one else is really around yet

Getting all the dishes done so the sink is fully empty

Watching a movie with someone else and making jokes about it when we're supposed to be listening to the dialogue

Petting my bird, he is so sweet.

Minecraft is very cozy to me.

The sound of rain, especially when it's really pouring or thundering.

A movie you've seen 1000 times and you can recite it from memory.

Laying in bed late at night listening to music.

OMG, all y'all COMPLETELY understood the assignment! Keep it going! This thread is now one of my new simple pleasures 🥰

Dandelions!

Just the yellow randomly dotting spring lawns, fields, the park, etc. I love adding a little to a salad. I love blowing the seeds so more can grow.

(guilty simple pleasure) I even low key love how they piss off the 'perfect lawn' type people 😊

The smell of rain.

The Look of love and happiness that my neighbor's service dog gives me every time he sees me... even if he saw me an hour ago.

A baby's laugh.

THe perfect piece of music, which depends on my mood - so it's never the same one.

The smell of lightning and the sound of rolling thunder.

Watching the sun set in Tulum, Mexico and in Varadero, Cuba.

@Witchy Cuban Crocodile same! All of those! Except Mexico and Cuba, but only because I've never been 😕

@Cranky Old Witch You have to go to both!

And I will tell you what my great aunt used to say about Varadero: It is the most beautiful and perfect beach in all the world.

Cinematic fog filtering very distant ancient street lights rolling through the trees on a night walk. You either love it or it creeps you out. But i think regardless even if it spooks you, you have to admit its beauty.

@KILLGAZMOTRON yaaasss! And yet, it's a 'pleasant' damp, like the first warm fog after winter breaks rolling in off of the snow piles in the road awayish, or the first cool fog after a heavy cold front drove out the heat, but now it's just settled into a nice breathable coolness

@Cranky Old Witch Fawkyeah :)

Maybe it's just a 'me' thing, but I 'get it' when someone really likes a perfect cup of mocha choca frappa whatever. And no hate!

But I am not a connoisseur. I have a cup of cheap coffee brewed in a perk pot on my stive in front of me.

Hot and black.

When the seasonal allergies are heavy upon my of an early morn' a goodly strong cup of black coffee from a percolator pot is pure bliss.

@Cranky Old Witch

Being Cuban, coffee is a cultural thing that screams home to me. And, yes, I do mean scream. Why? Because if one isn't used to Cuban coffee and they have some... they will start tasting color and seeing sound, since it is so strong.

When you wake up the next day and see that your posts have a nice bunch of unexpected 'kudos' and comments 😊

  • Standing under cool rain in the summer when it's disgustingly humid
  • Taking a chance at a random movie and thoroughly enjoying it
  • Getting the morning to myself
  • Eating food with my bare hands
