The cozy wholesome thread

Thought I'd carve out a wee spot away from social media bickering, drama, and trollishness.

And create what I hope is a nice place for the simple pleasures in life. Those wee wholesome moments that you deeply enjoy.

The smell of a good used bookstore. 

Walking by the river in spring and seeing the new baby ducks that season.

The energetic feeling just before a thunderstorm breaks.

Lunch with an old friend that you haven't seen in a while.

Whatever!

What are the small 'everyday' sort of things that you cherish and make you happy?

Arriving somewhere surprised. 

Traveling, especially when you visit places and eat at restaurants that only the locals go to.

Finding those hidden gems in my area... places that I had no clue were there eventhough I have lived here over 40 years.

When the skittish cat that hides from everyone chooses you. 

And every time you come to visit, the cat comes out of wherever it's private sanctuary is and curls up in your lap. Every time. 

it may sound irrelevant but, gentle, cold wind on my face and through my hair; stormy nights; windy forested roads; walking barefoot in nature; sunrises and sunsets; rainbows after storms on the hilly side while the sky is still dark and the air is cold and misty, etc.

This one's stupid, but it's my own lil simple pleasure.

When I pop the top, there is this wee puff of vapor in the bottle neck at the very top.

Sure, my brain tells me it's 'science'. Rapidly expanding gas or what not.

But my heart knows it's the tiny spirit of the coke bottle, charged with guarding the freshness of my cold beverage! I take but a moment to thank the spirit then gently blow to release it to wherever it may choose to go! 

Being up late and knowing I’m probably the only one up, it’s pretty quiet aside from that one random Honda civic, and it’s a nice break from the expectations of having to be social 

Looking at all the little wild flowers in the front yard while I walk my dog.

Stumbling upon a song I used to love as a child and haven't heard in years.

The sound of my husband's footsteps when he gets home from work.

Watching the birds hop and flit around in the parking lot of a store.

Feeling the coolness of a crystal in my hand while meditating.

Watching the smoke from an incense stick form shapes and patterns. Spiraling is my favorite.

When the dog decides to curl up in my lap and falls asleep on me.

That satisfying feeling of scratching an itch or picking off the hangnail that's been bugging me.

Catching a whiff of the honey suckle bush in the back yard when it blooms every year.

Beautiful sunsets, eating a delicious meal and just enjoying the various little trinkets and decorations i have in my home

Sleeping in, waking up with a start that you might be late, but quickly realizing you've no obligations today, and drift right back out for another hour or three

Finding forgotten money in an old pocket or purse 😊 

Afternoon with friends laughing over dumb shit to the point where your face hurts and you can't even remember why it was so funny, but now it's funny forever.

That's a simple pleasure on its own, but like a crazy person, when I pop that cap with a bottle opener, a wee whisp manifests there in the neck of the bottle. Oh, I know, I know, my 'logical' friends and family will tell me that it's the compressed gas.

But *I* know the truth! It's a wee spirit tasked with keeping my cola fresh, and I literally thank that wee spirit and gently blow a wee breath of air ti release it and send it on its way with my gratitude! 

nothing will ever beat infodumping abt your hyperfixations, blasting your favorite music while your parents arent home, and finishing a really big project

im actually gonna indoctrinate one of my irl friends into a fandom im in on Tuesday >:3c so far we have some of the same fave characters (hilariously one of them being the most morally questionable characters seeing as he's an executioner, but hey, hes got the whole unhinged, vampiric looking man with long black hair and a scythe going for him, and what insane soon to be college students arent gonna go wild over that- the other is like basically the human equivalent of a wet cat). anyway yeah
