I think jazz sucks. It's improvised noise with some classical instruments. This is probably just my headcannon but I have a feeling it was only promoted in movies as some kind of sophisticated music because hollywood producers were friends with record producers.

I value what you're saying, as I agree that DSBM has become so incredibly formulaic and uninspired, and generally made by very pathetic individuals (and probably a lot of AI now). I believe any band that actively calls themselves "DSBM" are the types I described above. But, I will say that the some bands who have now been retroactively lumped into the DSBM category, bands from the 90's/early 2000's are often quite good. I'm talking about Abyssic Hate, the earliest renditions of Hypothermia (his demos are good, and I'll leave it at that), Veil (US), Krohm (early), Sterbend, and even Burzum. These decent black metal bands unfortunately inspired the insipid garbage we know today that label themselves DSBM. No self-respecting band/artist calls themselves DSBM.

- joost klein and goreshit have ruined gabber music forever. its not their fault, their music's fault, or their personalities' fault, ofc, but rather simply the fact that they went extremely mainstream on TikTok and their audiences do not care about the roots and definition of the genre. it is very tough now to find newer gabber music that ISN'T some weird pop-gabber-tekstyle hybrid, breakcore & lolicore.
im a 90s gabber lover, im not one for angerfist or much of the new stuff under the id&t label, but at least they still hold the core of the music genre in their music (the bpm, distorted kicks, sampling from well-known/cult classic media, etc. while also still partaking in the lifestyle as producers). pop-gabber was made to make fun of the gabber subculture w. parodies like hakkuhbar & gabber piet, which joost's music is more similar to. goreshit isnt even remotely close to gabber; they legit just made one song with the word "gabberina" in it and ppl think that its peak gabber culture.
i just hate that i cannot find any new music without having to sift through a bunch of slop because "gabber" is the new trending EDM buzzword on tiktok.
[for the record, i still like joost's music :^) hes a pretty cool guy and his music is cool too.]
- some hyperpop is actually not half bad. its just the shitty artists who take a pre-existing song, speed it up & put some rly weird autotuned lyrics over it [and those who just try to churn out as many viral songs as possible] who oversaturate the genre and give it a bad rap. theyre more accurately described as scenecore which is a subgenre of hyperpop, so yeah they are technically hyperpop, but they obscure the people who actually put a lot of effort and time into making original shit.
there are a lot of artists & groups who make their own compositions & have a pretty good sound. wido, food house, alice gas, funeral, and AViT are a few good ones :^)
sorry for the essay; both of these examples is just probably tiktok making stuff into slop, but i do have to agree w. the black metallers here or whatever that gatekeeping is a necessary evil in some cases to keep music genres clear from people who just want to make a quick buck.
I'm under the belief that 9/11 and the proceeding rise in the "fuck you, guns & beer, freedumb" type of patriotism did irreparable things to country music which is why modern country music not only sucks ass but has given all country music such a bad reputation for being exclusive to racist, bigoted, gun-toting, bootlicking weirdos.

If your looking for a heavy load of that aspect in country music it was a lot heavier and prevelent in underground circles LOOONNNG previous to that.
Some pretty famous dudes from the 70s would absolutely smash your jaw on the floor with how bigotted and insensitive they could be lol.
Now its not all of it, but this was a frequent aspect of something called "outlaw country". which is yes a genre.
one case in point, the legend in that scene, (among a few) David Allen Coe.

The point im making being those aspects you suggest might have been started by 9/11, were VASTLY more intense in big portions of it long before that.
~ k-pop has done much more permanent harm than good to the music industry in SE Asia as well as internationally while also contributing little outside of just recycling pop sounds from POC artists from the 90s and 2000s!
~ i enjoy the Beatles but they are extremely overrated and benefited from being the right band at the right time.
~ Linkin Park is ok but never put out more than 1/2 of a good album.
~ I love Deftones but Chino's side project Crosses is more sonically interesting even if I really anything Deftones related.
~ Outside of maybe 15 albums, most metalcore boils down to the same sounds and themes; which is why people never will take it seriously
~ Genres changing towards certain sounds or evolving in ways we might not necessarily like is good; change is good.
~ Jay-Z isn't a top 25 rapper of all time.

African american popular music hit its peak quality in the 1970s.
By a wide margin, because it is a VERY steep slope down from there.

As i actually personally am very fond of and am a repeat listener of black 70s music.
It applies to a lot of things, but music especially.
A lot of people who like old music find it physically impossible to like it without trashing new music, and it’s VERY annoying.
