Okay so basically this is a non judgmental space to drop controversial takes or opinions. I’ll go first

I think corykenshin is the most overrated youtuber oat. I’ve never been able to sit through any of his videos. Lebroski gets 19m views for playing indie slop video games with ps2 graphics, I’d be more entertained watching 2016 gamingwithkev. And i swear his fans got abandonment issues. Yall should HIGHKEY use his absence from yt to find a better Youtuber.

Okay your turn

Replying to @MoonGirl08 (post is on page 1): “I think many women's cosmetic products are produced badly on purpose... like perfumes. Most women's perfumes I have seen sit close to the skin and are gone b...”

@MoonGirl08 it doesn't stop at perfume, and it can be argued that the quality of products for women (clothing, hygiene, menstruation, SCIENCE) comes in second place. I'm not sure exactly what it was but I recall seeing a video study where women's clothing were made with significantly poorer materials and quality in comparison to men's products and it's very frustrating. its interesting that some products that have a specifically female demographic also happens to be expensive as well as made cheaply is such a common problem across different areas is astounding...

we shouldn't force suicidal people into hospitals. I honestly think its inhumane to do so, because many people have talked about just how traumatizing involuntary hospitalization is, and think about it, your being driven somewhere whether you like it or not, you have no say in whether you get to go and you'll be forced to stay there against your will for several days or weeks, don't know anyone, your sources to contact the outside world or entertain yourself are limited, and you have to tell someone you don't know about deeply emotional and personal struggles in your life, when you're already in so much distress that you wanted to end your own life. I don't think that sounds like a good time, and people who've experienced have described as traumatizing. I think the only reason people are okay with forced hospitalization of suicidal people is because suicidal people, like a lot of other mentally ill people, aren't seen as full humans. If someone is going to hospitalize someone against their will because they're suicidal, they're not a safe person.

If you want to know how to help a suicidal person, first of all, LET THEM DECIDE IF THEY THINK A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL WILL HELP. If they think it will, and want to go, then help them get to the best one they can find. If they don't think it will and don't want to, then don't make them.

Speaking based on testimony from other people who've been suicidal and as someone who's been suicidal, if the hospital is ruled out, here's how you can help; stay by their side, but give them space when they say they need it. They're probably very lonely and don't think anyone will care or listen to them. If they need to talk, listen, if they just need company or to get their mind off things, then offer to keep them company, however the feelings they're probably experiencing are likely to overwhelm them and there will likely be times where they need space. Give them their space when they need it, but do check on them from time to time.

offer to do chores around the house for them. They're already overwhelmed by whatever's going on in their life and might lack the energy or motivation to do chores, even basic ones. I can't tell you how much easier it would've been during those times where i was the closest to ending it, if someone had just asked to clean my room for me, or offered to do the vacuuming for me, or even made my fucking lunch for me. It's going to take the load off for them while they're trying to make it through whatever they're going through that put them in this state.

This is pretty important, do try and remove any sharp objects from their vicinity or just generally objects they could use to harm or kill themselves. It might even be helpful to keep an eye on them if they do need to use those objects for whatever reason.

In general just offer to listen to them and help them, and keep them company. Play their favorite game with them, watch their favorite show with them, etc. and make sure to check on them at least semi-frequently until they can get back on their feet. Make them feel safe and listened to, don't force them into a place or situation they don't want to be in, because doing that will make it worse.

@VoidCat444xxX thank you for this as someone who’s been through the system and hated it

Replying to @Astroflash (post is on page 1): “There’s nothing wrong with suicide ”

this, plus i think it can be selfish to sway someone out of it just to provide no means of support. basically leaving them back on their own.

It was you who led the world to its destruction.
But you cannot accept it.
You think you are above consequences.

Replying to @Jasmine Boba Tea (post is on page 1): “budalk is shit”

@Jasmine Boba Tea im not even lying i just had a convo about this on someones blog

@Mybailey whattt dang

People gen have no opinions or personality of their own anymore!! One second something is cool and fun, and the next it isn’t because ‘user67420’ said it was lame. Like, omg!! What happened to people just enjoying things they like?? Don’t get me started on the people who call everything problematic because of something they saw on tiktok

Ok i wrote out a whole ass response and it deleted it so I'll keep this short... retard is a slur... ok that's all I have to say goodbye! PS Feel free to debate just know ur wrong :)

commenting yuri or yaoi under posts of wlw relationships or mlm relationships can be weird, objectifying, and sexualizing. not all yuri/yaoi content is explicit, but a lot of it is, and thats often the way in which it's used -- why do you see a happy couple, and your reaction is to comment a word like that? not that the word is inherently bad, just the context is... odd.

my hot take: Saying someone isn’t/can’t be ‘authentically’ scene or alt or whatever else and that they’re a poser cause they weren’t there when it was created or booming feels like a way to bash younger or newer ppl who identify with those subcultures.

Ik I’m already on thin ice for being 17 and new to the subcultures but hmo.

Don’t get me wrong, Ik ppl can be posers and pretend to be into the music, style, or beliefs- but a lot of the time, I see the argument used on ppl around my age or younger. I’m not gonna claim a label, cause again, I’m new, and can acknowledge that it might not be my place to do so just yet.

But I’ll go online and see ppl talking about their musical interest, maybe a favorite band or specific style they’re into, and you’ll find so many ppl just crapping on them for it.

It’s always “What do you know? You weren’t even there!” or “You can’t be [insert subculture]!” or “You haven’t been into it or know as much as I do so you’re a poser!”. And it feels so mean. How is that their fault? Not every Alt person ever was born in the MySpace era. Someone can’t become interested in a subculture and align with it if they were born after it’s ‘peak’ (not that I think they’ve peaked, just using it for example here)? It feels so unwelcoming and just icky- and I feel like it could cause a lot of ppl to avoid/stray from these groups just to avoid it yk?

“And we’ll all dance along to the sound of your death! We’ll love again, we’ll laugh again, and it’s better off this way…” -Gerard Way 🎼

@prettyputridXD idk bro the whole subculture full of geeks just a bunch of privileged suburban kids fighting over who's hair is the most fried and who stans the most preds

people always bring up rock/metal and hip-hop/rap as two opposing mutually exclusive genres, but i don't think there's any reason for them to clash

@shlockoclock In my world they never clash. I’ll go from morbid angel to Britney spears rq

‘Gatekeeping’ and ‘in-fighting’ are often mislabeled onto conversations that are psychologically straining but very important to personal growth and understanding of the community / topic.

Replying to @Somedeadpoet (post is on page 1): “Most people on letterboxd watch movies to look cool, we all know your fav movie isn't a 1912 Silent film YOU LIKE BARBIE IN THE PINK SHOES KEITH”

Replying to @Lulu's Mauling (post is on page 1): “ps2 graphics is insulting that shit is just low poly asset flips ok, don't knock on the ps2 graphics like that sniff.. but yea i agree i tried watching like ...”

@Lulu's Mauling ewhy da fuq am i just seeing this

nb knocking on ps2 graphics ill take a ps2 game over modern games any day, but using it in a game so it seems more scary or analogous is so uncreative

@AL<3 from all your replies i would like to say you’re a professional yapper in the best way possible, i like reading/ listening to people’s opinions on random stuff and the way you articulate yours is really nice
