Is there any actual site for artists these days?

And I mean SPECIFICALLY for artists. Not something where you can just dump all your shit n maybe get somewhere with it. Twitter's trash, Blueskys mostly bots and kinda lame millennials as far as I can tell, and Deviantart is now exclusively for - for a lack of a better term- socially inept 25 year olds who like The Loud House WAYYYYY too fuckin' much, plus two of those things suck AI off like crazy so... Point is, where can I find a place to find fellow COOL ARTISTS such as myself?  » Continue Reading

patricia highsmith word salad

was pleasantly informed that patricia highsmith was queer today . i would say surprised but strangers on a train reads like prehistoric yaoi. can i get vulnerable? i dropped my copy of that book in an airport toilet and instead of throwing it away outright i put it on a radiator and finished it before throwing the dogeared thing away. the book meanders a great deal if im recalling correctly but i liked the obsession in it.this resurfaced in my mind because istarted reading the talented mr ripley... » Continue Reading

Why muslim women take the hijab off

As a muslim, my relationship with the hijab has been quite straightforward. I had my doubts and annoyances here and there, but now it's like my main instrument for the outdoors, and I've learnt how to make it fit my identity. But growing up, I realised that isn't the case for anybody: from strict/abusive parents, societal pressure, cyberbullying and low self-esteem, it's no surprise that women within Islam might wanna take it off, or even leave the religion itself. And the way the muslim communi... » Continue Reading

Social Media Didn't Kill Being Social, Greed Did.

I always here this idea that social media has made us more closed off than ever and I personally don't share the sentiment at all. Friendrewind/Spacehey are proof that this isn't true. Social Media as it exists in the current age has for sure, but not social media as a whole.Companies have turned every aspect of being social into a money gaining scheme have ruined it for us. I would argue that in the early 2000's social media brought people together more than ever before. Myspace, AIM, MSN Messe... » Continue Reading
